About movement arts with holly

As a fitness/movement professional for 3 decades, I believe in the power of movement to heal. Not only because I've experienced this healing with students, but because it has healed me many times over- even when I was too young to realize that that was what was occurring (dance classes were a really good thing!) My current aim is to offer what knowledge I have, and to facilitate growth in my students, whether in a group setting or in an individualized lesson. I find that as I approach my 50th year around the sun, that my own challenges (injuries/illnesses) that I've encountered, have deepened both my appreciation and understanding of what both Pilates and Yoga techniques can offer. I look forward to working with you to reach your goals.

I'm a ballet major, high school graduate of UNCSA. From there, I danced professionally for 9 years (Ballet Dallas, Hartford Ballet, State Street Ballet of Santa Barbara, and State Ballet of Oregon, which later became Ballet Rogue). During that period, I also attended Southern Oregon University, and Pilates teacher trainings in both Dallas, TX and Los Angeles, CA. I taught Pilates and ballet to all ages and levels. I was introduced to yoga in the mid 90's, but became slightly obsessed with the practice when I started studying seriously in 2004. In 2006, I completed my 200hr teacher training at City Yoga of West Hollywood, and later attended an advanced teacher training at Maha Yoga, as well as several workshops on yoga therapeutics. Also in 2006, I began working privately on the subtle aspects of yoga (i.e. pranayama/meditation/etc.) with my teacher Will Duprey. I still work with him to this day. From 2007-2016, I taught Pilates and Yoga in Los Angeles, mostly privately and semi-privately at Melrose Pilates and Pacific Medical Group. During this time, I worked with clientele who had both acute and chronic pain, as well as some with autoimmune disorders. On the side, I completed courses in both energy healing and holistic health/nutrition. In the Summer of 2013, I staged and directed the ballet, Pas de Quatre for Ballet Diane Hyrst in Southern Oregon. In 2016, I moved to Cary, NC where I taught at Oakwood Chiropractic and later out of my home studio. In 2019, I moved back to Oregon, and in early 2020, when I was ready to start teaching again, the pandemic lockdowns put a halt to my plans. Later, a somewhat debilitating bout with Long Covid, continued my teaching hiatus. During my struggles with Long Covid, my yoga and Pilates practices became invaluable. Although, physically unable to do a fraction of what I once could, I knew from experience that both practices meet you where you are. These practices were crucial to my recovery. These days, I live in beautiful Brevard, NC where I am grateful to be healthy enough to enjoy long hikes in the mountain air. Ready to teach again and give forward the benefits of Pilates and Yoga, I offer both online sessions and local lessons in my home. I look forward to and
